Get ready for it, Grand Rapids! ArtPrize 2015 is here. I have completed four new huge drawings just in time! The frames were created by my wonderful husband. They are on display at Crossroads Bible Church on Schribner. ArtPrize goes from Wednesday, September 23rd to Wednesday, October 11th.
Also my Etsy is newly updated with prints of my original drawings and paintings! Woo! Here’s the link:
Finally, the work. This is a series called The Signature of All Things. It refers to the creator’s hand in all things. I also frequently refer to this bible verse, found in Luke 12: 27-28,
“Consider how the wildflowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor is dressed like one of the field. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you!”
Our father loves his creations, even the flowers that grow on the side of the road. He made those flowers so beautiful and in such variety. How much more does he love us, to clothe us in infinite variety! He even endowed us with the capacity to see beauty, feel love, and share in what he made for us. We are here in part to be stewards of the natural world, and also to love one another.
And here’s the work! Each flower was found and documented by me throughout West Michigan nature preserves and parks, with the exception of the touch-me-nots or Jewelweeds, which were found in the U.P. Thanks for looking! 🙂
